The day

In the mornings, you can enjoy the pleasure of visiting the villages in the interior of the island. In Es Puig de Missa de Santa Eulària, you can see the typical whitewashed churches of Ibiza, which have a unique construction, as they were conceived as fortresses to defend the population from pirate attacks. The monumental complex, with its cobbled streets and beautiful views over the port, recalls the island’s way of life from a century ago.

In this municipality the legendary Las Dalias market, held on Saturdays, and the Es Canar market, held on Wednesdays, are something you cannot miss. Clothes, gift items, jewellery and all kinds of articles can be found in these two markets. A large part of their attraction is the tolerant cosmopolitan atmosphere that symbolises the spirit of the island. Before or after the visiting the flea market, it is a good idea to recharge your batteries. Sant Carles, Santa Gertrudis and Jesús are small, charming villages that are ideal stops along the way for an aperitif or a meal.

On the trip to the interior of the island, another beautiful and rarely visited place is the little village of Santa Agnès de Corona and it is a joy to stroll along its paths full of almond blossom during the months of January and February. However, the views of the Ibizan countryside transmit peace at any time of year, and you can enjoy the most authentic and natural Ibiza on the way to Sant Mateu d’Albarca or on a visit to the north of the island, in the municipality of Sant Joan, where you can find the rural Ibiza isolated from mass tourism.

There are other small towns like Sant Agustí or Es Cubells, in Sant Josep, bathed by light and silence, which reflect the essence of the Ibiza of centuries ago, where life goes by at the same unhurried pace as always and where all outsiders are welcome. The island is full places to recover energy in contact with nature, the sea and peace.

You should not end your trip without visiting the walled enclosure of Dalt Vila, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Streets, nooks and crannies, monuments, shops, restaurants… in Dalt Vila, a night begins that promises to be long and full of thrills.
